The advent season is a wonderful time of the year, and, a very busy and stressful time for many pastors. It’s a time for JOY and PEACE. It is also a time for special church advent services, shopping, diners, parties, and decorating of church and home. Many pastors families have to reschedule or miss family holiday gatherings because they are providing Christmas Eve services and special events for the church.
My prayer for you this holiday season is that you can find the rest you need and enjoy the reason for the season.
Christmas is a time we celebrate the incarnate Christ. A celebration of God coming to us. Think about that for a moment. God didn’t say, “come to me”, God said, “I will come to you.” And that is the message I have for you this Christmas season. God is with you! He really is! He came down to be with you!
We have many good traditions in celebrating Christmas. One of those traditions is the giving of gifts. And isn’t it true, from the ones we love the greatest gift they can give us is themselves. The same is true of God. With the universe at his finger tips, he thought about you and what he would like to get you for Christmas, and he said, ‘I’m going to give them myself! I’m going to be with them!”
You and your family are in our prayers. Please make time to enjoy this special season with your family. Take time to rest and relax.
God’s love flows to you - fills you - flows out of you to others - bringing heaven to earth!
PASTORS ARE HEROES WHO NEED LOVE TOO!
